Welcome to my teacher website. This is my 16th year teaching at Bullitt East High School, and the 32nd year of my career. My courses this year consists of Drama 1, Advanced Drama, Speech, Creative Writing, plus FLEX Credit Recovery.
I consider myself blessed to be a teacher. My mission is to positively impact the lives of students, enabling each person to pursue his/her life fulfillment.
Education is dependent on our investment-- mentally, physically, emotionally. We all have stories to tell. Every student has a unique journey and gains unique skills and gifts that enrich a community, IF we enable the student to find their voice and share those gifts.
Storytelling takes many forms--actions, letters, speech. Storytelling is a purpose that makes all disciplines of education relevant. Every subject area contribute new ways to tell our stories and share our gifts. Ultimately, the purpose of storytelling is to make all persons in the community relevant (valuable).
Under the cloud of a pandemic, we need to learn some life skills this year, or school will become difficult, as well as many other areas.
Keep n mind, this is new for me, too. Ongoing communication and reflection on our process will improve both instruction and learning.
YOU, as students, bear equal responsibility for your education. We have to work together, adapt, and be creative in order to succeed.
General Expectations/Requirements:
Take care of the chromebooks and chargers, and keep them together. Also, keep earbuds ready--very useful.
Your writing units (except for journals in Drama) will be digital folders, shared with your teacher, but not other students.
Sharing ideas in discussion will be frequent following writing tasks, but your privacy will be respected, as well.
Assignments will have Due Dates. Items one day LATE earn up to 80%. Items 2-3 days late may only earn 50% credit. Items beyond 3 days late are past due/earn no credit.
For Excused Absences, the school policy awards the number of days absent plus one to complete all make-up work.
